Lyndsay, Josh & Baby Nug

The other day we had the opportunity to photograph some maternity photos for Lyndsay & Josh. These two crazy folks decided to wait to find out if they are having a boy or girl- I have no idea how they can possibly wait the suspense would kill me! Since they don't know the sex of the baby yet he or she has the cutest little nickname... baby Nug. Baby Nug is going to be one lucky little boy or girl with Lyndsay & Josh as parents. We had so much fun with these two! Our take on maternity photos may be a little different than the traditional look most people recognize but who says they have to be all black & white and in a studio anyway? I think the traditional style misses a very important aspect to the pregnancy- the excitement, love and personalities of the parents. It's apparent that Lyndsay & Josh are so happy about adding this little one to their family and we got so many awesome pictures showing just how overjoyed they are. We had a difficult time choosing which pictures to post there were so many we loved but here is just a peak into our day. I couldn't leave out Josh's #1 to Penn State though. These two crack me up- enjoy!

Marci & Mark's Wedding at University of Denver

Every now and then we all get sick and sometimes it occurs at the most inopportune time. Such was the case for Dusty last weekend. We had a wedding for a great couple on Saturday but sadly he was way too sick to be there to photograph their big day. Fortunately we have a wonderful network of local photographers that can help one another out in these types of situations. We made a few phone calls and Erin of Art & Soul Photography saved the day for all of us. Marci & Mark were beyond understanding about the whole situation and I just knew they would love Erin. The day turned out after all and we got some awesome shots! I (Michelle) was excited to assist another photographer and see how others work. It was a great experience for me to shoot a lot more than normal and remembered how much I loved photographing. We had a great time with Marci & Mark and their entire families. Marci looked absolutely beautiful of course and they make such a great couple! They held their ceremony at the Evan's Chapel on DU's campus. Mark's family is Italian so what better setting than the Tuscany Ballroom for their reception. I almost couldn't believe that they planned the whole thing in just 6 weeks! Then again with Marci being a graphic designer and having a very talented family (her aunt and mother did all the flowers and such) it made perfect sense. Dusty and I photographed Marci's cousin, Kevin & Kelly's wedding a little over a year ago so thank you guys for referring us! Here are some of the photos Erin & I took throughout their day. The first 7 are photos from Erin and the last 4 I took- I have to say I'm pretty proud of myself:-)

Twitter or Facebook Anyone?

I figured I was on the computer so much anyway might as well have a little extra fun, right? I started a Fans Page on Facebook so if you're on there become a fan! I keep the page updated often with lots of info and pics we post to our blog so you can tag photos of yourself for your own page.

If you're already on Twitter you know how fun it is to follow the daily lives of people around you. I joined on the Twitter bandwagon a few weeks ago so come along and follow my daily random thoughts, rants, and raves;-)

Kacey & Jay's E-Session at Chatfield Botanic Gardens

Sorry I'm a little behind on blogging this week but things have been crazy around here! We have so many awesome things coming up including our Calling All Ladies contest that we can't wait to share with everyone. Anyways, a week ago we met up with Kacey and Jay for their engagement session at the Chatfield Botanic Gardens. It's such a fun location to photograph with a bunch of old barns and animals on the property (including some goats and a cranky goose). Kacey and Jay have a ton of fun together and were a great couple to photograph. At one point holding hands turned into some type of kung fu fighting match and Kacey ended up over Jay's shoulders- they are awesome! We've been looking forward to their wedding and their engagements since meeting with them. It's so funny when you meet someone and realize what a small world it is. Coincidentally Michelle and Kacey went to the same church and were involved in the same youth group for many years back in Middle School and High School. In fact the youth group minister from way back then actually married Michelle and I almost 6 years ago. Somehow they were referred to us and now we get the chance to photograph this special time in their lives. They are getting married in May and we can't wait. Here's a few from our day including the first photo of our version of the classic painting American Gothic.

Becky & Neal: Engagements at Red Rocks

The second half to last weekend ended with Becky & Neal up at Red Rocks. I haven't done an engagement session up there in almost a year so I was looking forward to trying some new places up there. From the look of the pictures you'd guess we took this in the middle of the summer- it was warm enough for Becky to wear a tank top! But here is proof they were done the 1st of March:-) Becky & Neal were so easy to photograph and make a great couple! I really didn't have to instruct them on anything, they were just naturals. The ladies over at Deloitte have made my job so much fun with all their great referrals! I have had a great time working with all of them! Here are a few of the images we shot during the day. Don't they make a great looking couple? I can't tell you how difficult it was to pick just a few to share- this could have been one of my longest posts ever! Check 'em out.

Bride's Tips: Wedding Dresses

For a while now I (Michelle) have been wanting to get a little more involved with our blog. Witnessing so many weddings I feel we have a plethora of information to share with our brides and help them with the planning process. Every bride wants her day to be unforgettable. After all there is so much time and money that goes into a wedding and all those dreams that were years in the making. The planning process for our own wedding, almost 6 years ago now, was one of the most exciting time of my life! I loved every moment of it. However, I've heard time and again from brides-to-be that they can't wait for the wedding day so all the planning can be over. That's where I come in. Okay so I'm not a wedding planner (actually I did want to be back before our photography took off) but I'd love to share any tips and advice for all our brides to help make the planning a little more fun and a lot less stressful. From the small things, like the song you pick for your first dance, to the big things, like the wedding dress, I'd love to offer ideas and share the latest trends to help you make your day unique to you. I'll be posting these every now and then so check back for the latest. If you have any topics you'd like me to cover just let me know.

So, without further introduction here is my first post and what better way to start than with my favorite topic of all, the wedding dress! The last time I went to a few local bridal shops I was a little disappointed with the lack of selection. Where are all those dresses in the magazines? Makes one think those dresses are for the rich and famous only- if they're not in the stores they must be high priced gowns that nobody can afford right? Well... there are a lot of beautiful dresses out there that don't cost an arm and a leg you just have to look in the right place. The internet is a great place to start- you can find a dress and find out where to buy it without having to go to 50 different bridal shops. Here are a few designers that I absolutely LOVE!!!! Many of these gowns can be purchased for under $1000 but you'll still look like you stepped right out of a fashion magazine. Check out the links to their websites for more beautiful dresses.
