Angel & Collin's Wedding

The second half to our busy weekend was with Angel and Collin's wedding on Saturday. We were excited to work with Collin's family again after we photographed his sister's wedding in February '07. It was soooo hot with not a cloud in the sky for shade. We were all so glad both the ceremony and reception were held inside but we just had to get a few cool pictures out in the sun. The bridal party thought we were nuts dragging them into the weeds for a group picture but it was one of the few places in the shade and I loved the way it turned out. I had to add the last one with her pink shoes because they looked so cool. Enjoy!

Nell & Rick's Wedding in Boulder

Last week we had a busy weekend with back to back weddings on Friday and Saturday. The weekend started with Nell & Rick's wedding in Boulder at the Rembrandt Yard. It was a really cool and unique venue to hold a wedding, with local artists' work throughout the site making for a very modern and artistic look. They packed the site with lots of guests there to witness them exchange vows. Everyone seemed to be having a blast at their reception with plenty of flashback music from the 80's and 90's- my favorite kind of music! Nell made a very stunning bride. Boulder Blooms supplied the flowers for the day and did a beautiful job, loved the yellow.

Heather & Bill's Mountain Wedding

As we drove an hour up and down dirt roads to Heather & Bill's ceremony site I kept thinking to myself "what did we get ourselves into?" It was the most off-roading my Jeep has seen in the three years we've had it. When we finally made it to the site we realized exactly why they chose this spot. It was absolutely beautiful! As you looked past the rows of chairs there was nothing in sight but God's creation- mountains, fields, trees and sky. We had such a great time with everyone. Even after a rocky start to the day when the shuttles accidentally left half the guests stranded causing an hour delay on the wedding and despite the fact that the bride and many others were fried from the sun nothing could get in the way from having a blast. Here are just a few pictures we took during the day. Earl, their dog, made the cutest ringbearer and we had to get just a few with Heather's bull named Buttercup who has been with her since he was just one day old. Thanks Jennifer and Nick for recommending us to them!

Ronda & Jeff Engagements at Daniels Park

Ronda and Jeff have been very busy during the few short weeks they have been engaged. They wanted to plan as much of their wedding for next summer as possible while being together before Jeff left for Alaska with a new job opportunity. He will be back for the wedding of course but we at least helped them check one more item off their list with their engagement session before he left. They were so easy to work with and it was really obvious they love each other and have fun together. We had a great time playing in the wind:-) Here's just a sneak peak.

E-Session With Cathy & Cody

This past week we met up with Cathy and Cody for their engagement session. We started at the elementary school playground where they met many years ago. From there we headed to downtown Littleton for a few more. Even though they were doing some construction around the Melting Pot restaurant we just had to get a few pictures there since that's where Cody proposed. We loved how they chose locations that had special meaning for them! We could have stayed out all night taking pics and as a fellow photographer Cody would have been glad to oblige. Here are just a few pictures from the day. Thanks Melissa and Collin for referring them to us- we had a blast!

Spread some JOY!

Hi everyone,
With so much hatred and bad things happening in our world today how can we not become discouraged, so it's good to get some inspiring words of wisdom, I have a link below with one of my favorite pastors out of Texas. He looks at things the way we all should and says "calm down, look and listen." Enjoy and God Bless!

My Cousin Charlie's Getting Married!

ATTENTION: Do not scroll down to the bottom of this post if you are faint of heart... it's scary!

Anyways, last week my cousin Charlie flew out from California to celebrate his b-day and recent engagement. This was the first time we had the opportunity to meet his wife-to-be Leanne. We absolutely loved her and she is already part of the Volkel Wive's Club. We scooted around downtown, got in trouble with a security guard at Union Station and escorted out (we were taking a few pics NEAR the restricted platform area but never went or even planned to go out on them- he must have just been bored or having a bad day), and hung out for a little while. It was great to see Charlie and to meet Leanne. We are looking forward to their wedding in California next year. Congrats guys!
